Project Page: A Family Home Reinvented

Oakland, NJ

THE STARTING POINT

From start to finish, Project Page was a dream job — wonderful clients (who knew what they liked, what they needed, and that they needed help!), a great blank slate, and a healthy budget that was thoughtfully invested.

I joined the project during construction on their beautiful Oakland home, where the homeowners were expanding by connecting the existing garage to the house. This renovation added incredible square footage — new bedrooms upstairs, a mudroom and kitchen area, and a spacious family room.

Knowing there would be countless decisions to make, they brought me on to guide them through it all — from paint colors throughout the first floor to kitchen selections, furnishing the foyer and family room, curating his home office, and designing their primary bedroom. I also helped with selections for the guest/kid bathroom and their primary bathroom design. It was a large undertaking — but exactly the kind of comprehensive, whole-home project I love.

THE TRANSFORMATION

This family of four was an absolute joy to work with. They were engaged, open-minded, and completely embraced my design process. Together, we made confident decisions — sometimes in under an hour! — choosing everything from bathroom tile and the fireplace surround to a special design element that wasn’t even in the original plan: custom built-ins framing the family room fireplace. It added both beauty and function to the space.

We walked through my Investment Guide early in the process to align expectations and priorities, and from there I was able to deliver every piece of their wish list within the agreed-upon budget — a true win-win for this family.

By the time installation day arrived, I couldn’t wait to see it all come together and share the finished spaces with them!

THE REVEAL

Their reactions said it all — jaws literally dropped when they walked into their new family space for the first time. The palette was a soothing mix of soft blues, creams, and greys that complemented their white-and-blue kitchen, with just a touch of the modern farmhouse aesthetic she loved — subtle, timeless, and never overdone.

From the warm, inviting family room and sitting area to their serene new bedroom and styled bathrooms, every space reflected both their personalities and their lifestyle.

What a joy it was to design for such a beautiful family — they now have a home that truly feels like them.
